Getting started
How do I sign in?
DooDooDone has no passwords. Type your email address and we send you a 6-digit code. Type the code in the app and you're in.
- The code works for 10 minutes. After 5 wrong tries it stops working and you can ask for a new one.
- You can ask for a new code after 60 seconds. Asking for a new code cancels the old one.
- The email comes from no-reply@doodoodone.com. If it doesn't arrive within a minute or two, look in your spam or promotions folder.
How do I set up my family?
After signing in, choose Create a new family. Give it a name, check the time zone (it decides when "today" starts) and choose a 4-digit family PIN. Then the app helps you add your children, pick some habits and choose a first goal. It takes a few minutes, and you can change everything later.
How does the other parent join?
On the Family tab, tap Invite a parent. You get a code like K7MQ-4XTP to send them. They install DooDooDone, sign in with their own email, choose Join with an invite code and type it. An invite code works once and for 72 hours.
All parents in a family have the same rights: each can award points, change habits and rewards, invite or remove parents and manage devices. A family can have up to 10 parents.
How do I add a child?
On the Family tab, open Children and tap Add child. You only need a first name or nickname and a picture (avatar) from the app. The birth year is optional. Please don't use a child's full name. A family can have up to 10 children.
Habits, points and rewards
How do habits work?
Your family has one habit library. Choose built-in habits like "Brush teeth", or make your own with an emoji and a name. Each habit earns points (for example +2) or, for things to avoid, costs points (for example −3).
Then choose which children have it, on which days, and at which time of day (morning, afternoon, evening or any time). Child mode only shows the habits for the current time of day, so a young child sees just a few cards. You can also turn on reminders, which appear on your own phone.
How do I award points?
On the Today tab, tap a habit card once. The points are added right away. Tapped by mistake? Tap Undo within 5 seconds, or open the child's History later and reverse the entry.
- Hold a card to give a different amount or add a note (only parents see notes).
- + Bonus and − Remove add or take away points without a habit.
- A child's points never go below 0.
How do rewards and goals work?
Rewards are treats your family agrees on, like a park visit, each with a cost in points. Choose one reward as a child's goal: child mode shows it with a progress bar. When the child has enough points, you can redeem it, and its cost is taken from their points.
What does "I did it" mean?
If you allow it for a child (it's off by default, in the child's settings), the child can tap I did it on a habit card, or ask for their goal reward when they have enough points. You get a notification and decide in the Requests tab: approve or dismiss. Nothing changes until a parent approves.
Child mode and child devices
What is child mode?
Child mode is the picture-only screen for your child: their stars, their goal and big habit cards. Start it from Child mode on the Today or Family tab. Your phone then stays locked in child mode.
To leave it, press and hold the small lock button in the corner for 2 seconds, then use Face ID or your fingerprint, or type the family PIN.
How do I pair my child's tablet or phone?
- On your phone, open the Family tab and tap Pair a device.
- Choose which children this device is for. You see a code like K7M-4QX.
- On the child's device, install DooDooDone, tap This is my child's device and type the code.
The code works once and for 10 minutes. If it runs out, make a new one. A child device can only show the children you chose, and it never gets notifications.
To rename a device, change its children or remove it, open Child devices on the Family tab. A removed device goes back to the pairing screen.
What is the family PIN?
A 4-digit PIN that every parent in the family shares. It is needed to leave child mode, so a child can't get into the parent screens. You can change it any time in Family settings; the new PIN works on all devices at once.
After 5 wrong PINs in a row, the PIN pad locks for a while (1 minute at first, then longer, up to 1 hour). The right PIN unlocks it again.
I forgot the PIN. What now?
- On your own phone, stuck in child mode: open the PIN pad and tap Forgot PIN?. We send a code to your email. Type it, and you're back in parent mode and can choose a new PIN.
- On a child device: change the PIN from your own phone in Family settings. The new PIN works on the child device straight away.
I'm not getting notifications.
- Check that notifications are on in Your account in the app, and for DooDooDone in your phone's settings.
- Notifications only come for "I did it" and reward requests from children, and only to parents' phones.
- Signing out of a phone stops its notifications.
The app says there's no internet.
DooDooDone needs a connection to keep every phone and tablet in the family up to date. Once you're back online it carries on by itself. Points you tapped are never counted twice.
Your data and your account
How do I remove a child?
Open the child in Children and tap Delete child. This permanently deletes the child's profile and all their points and history. It can't be undone.
How do I delete my account or the whole family?
- Your account: Family tab → Your account → Delete account. If other parents are in the family, the family stays with them; history then shows "a former parent" for your entries. If you're the last parent, the family is deleted with your account.
- The whole family: Family settings → Delete family. This deletes all children, habits, rewards, history and child devices for every parent. The parents' own accounts stay, so they can start a new family.
Deletion happens straight away. We email you a confirmation when your account is deleted. See the privacy policy for what happens to backups.
Which languages does DooDooDone speak?
English, Urdu, Hindi, Arabic, Spanish and German. Each parent chooses their own language in Your account; emails and notifications follow it.
